Welp.... Guess I'm moving back down to Orem in a couple weeks! I'm so SO exctied to get back down there. Can't wait for school to start and to start my awesome new job. Yay!!! Oh, and Merry Christmas in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Mo Tab Christmas concert tonight featuring this guy. If you know me at all, you know that I'm absolutely in love with David Archuleta! When I found out that David was the guest this year, I immediately called my friend (and old high school choir teacher) Peter Steenblik, who is in the choir, and offered to sell him my soul if he could get me tickets... About a month later he surprised my good friend Kameron and me with tickets :):) You can only imagine my reaction and joy when he gave us tickets! So I've read David's book, I listen to his music all the time, I voted for him 121341232225 times when he was on American Idol, I watch him perform and do interviews all the time (I understand this is borderline creepy..... but I can't help it...) and I am just so impressed with him as a musician and a person. He is so grounded and has such a great outlook on life. His happiness and energy is something I'm striving to obtain. Although I did meet and talk to him briefly once, I don't know him personally (unfortunately...). But I really admire how he lives his life and how he balances his fame, family, friends, career and the Gospel. Everytime I watch a new interview of him or watch him perform, it seems like he is getting more firm in his faith, getting closer to the Lord, and that the light of Christ is shining brighter in his eyes! (Next time he sings, watch his eyes! Promise you'll notice the extra "sparkle,"!) You know how there are certain people in life that strike something inside of you that inspires you to be a better person? He happens to be one of those people for me. I don't know why, he just inspires me, as a singer and as a person! The concert was spectacular. He was spectacular. The choir was spectacular. The ballerinas coming out of the giant music box was spectacular. That voice. That smile. That tux he wore tonight... Stop it, he's adorable. Oh, David....... {big dramatic love struck sigh....}
I kept hearing my phone go off early this morning but didn't check it til about 8:30. 10 texts from people in LDC telling me that the Provo Tabernacle was on fire. My choir was in that building rehearsing just hours before it caught on fire. We were supposed to have performances there tonight and tomorrow. We had a tradition of doing a big combined Thanksgiving and Easter concert in that building. This building is historic, probably one of the oldest in Provo/ Utah County. We loved this building. I wasn't able to be with them last night, but it's crazy to think my choir were the last people to ever sing in the beautiful, original Provo Tabernacle.... This building will be greatly missed.
